by oppostate injohn cedars' youtube channel has a new video interview with james penton.
lloyd asks some good questions and jim provides excellent insights about jw history and where the movement may be headed.. i had the pleasure of meeting jim and his former wife, now passed away, at the christian believers conference (of bible students).

My three favorite ex-JW writers:
James Penton was the scholar with encyclopedic knowledge about the history of JW's
Carl Olof Jonsson was the indefatigable researcher who left no stones unturned
Raymond Franz was sweet grandpa with the best and most moving story
All three wrote excellent books, each with a personal and unique, but very professional style.

Has the Governing Body EVER apologized for anything?
by Wild_Thing ingeoffrey jackson testified to the arc that the governing body has apologized for things in the past, so an apology to sexual abuse victims is "perceivable".
what has the governing body ever apologized for?.
22 q. just on that point, mr jackson, has the governing body23 considered apologising to survivors of child sexual abuse24 at the hands of elders within the organisation?25 a. i haven't been in any discussions with regard to that.26 27 q. is that something that you foresee might happen ‐ in 28 other words, that an apology at least be considered?29 a. the governing body has apologised on other matters, so30 for me to say ‐ i can't speak collectively for everybody, 31 but we have apologised on things in the past, in other32 areas, so it is perceivable.. .

Or may be not an apology. The text below is what followed the "apology"
"It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a buildup of the expectation already initiated."
It's the fault of the rank and file after all. In its issue of July 15, 1976, The Watchtower, commenting on the inadvisability of setting our sights on a certain date, stated:
“If anyone has been disappointed through not following this line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting his viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that his own understanding was based on wrong premises.”

Watchtower only apology below. Dig deep, churn a little, flip it few times and you will find the apology somewhere. You may need to read several times
"With the appearance of the book Life Everlasting-in Freedom of the Sons of God, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of Christ to parallel the seventh millennium of man's existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. ... Unfortunately, however, along with such cautionary information, there were other statements published that implied that such realization of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possibility ." Watchtower 1980 Mar 15 p.17

by ducatijoe inthose of us here wasting our time trying to show who trump really is .... it's like trying to reason with all those still in the organization.

Anybody but Hillary!! Yep. Don't forget immigration and cut taxes (and burden our children and grandchildren with a huge debt in the process)
Trump is the most un-presidential president ever, but he turned out to be the best demagogue. I still hold that his followers are like the followers of a cult leader; they see nothing wrong with their man. The religious right is quite hypocritical about supporting a man who cares little about the so called Christian values.

Wait a minute, masturbation is usually done in solitude, so no second witness. Therefore, according to scripture, I can not be brought to a judicial committee, even if I admit doing it. Where's the 2nd witness?

This is my story
by paradiseseeker ini've already posted in this forum but i haven't told you my story.
nowadays i'm a pimo in my late 20s from spain.. i was born in the cult and i can say that during my whole childhood and most of my teenage years i believed in this.
however, i felt that here was something wrong with me, as i wasn't comfortable telling people i was jw, talking about jw stuff, nor did i feel "excited" and "grateful" whenever a watchtower publication told me that i should.

Hey! you already got good advice. Let me add one more. I have heard time and time again in this forum that one of the few things of having been a witness is that one acquires skill and confidence when speaking in public. Turn this heavy burden of being a fake JW into an opportunity to develop a skill that will serve you well for a lifetime. We know the JW stuff is all bullshit, but you can tone it down and put to practice your public speaking skills and the art of persuasion with total strangers, even attempt to influence them. This type of skill, if mastered, is worth the BIG bucks.

When Will Jehovah`s Witnesses Appoint A Woman As A Governing Body Member.? It`s Long Overdue !
by smiddy3 injehovah himself gives the saying "the women telling the good news are a large army" psalms 68 : 11 coupled with the fact that a good portion of women partake of the emblems and wine at the annual memorial celebration.. identifying themselves as part of the 144000 that are taken from the earth to rule with christ jesus in the heavens.. isn`t it about time they were recognized for their contributions and given the fact that gods word the bible clearly states that 144,000 of anointed are to be taken from the earth which many women are a large part of.?.
revelation ch.14 :4 could be argued that they are not lesbians { "these are the ones who do not defile themselves with women ,in fact they are virgins, etc,etc.}.
i wonder just how many men who claim to be of the anointed have not defiled themselves with women and are virgins.?.

@scratchme"The same applies to a number of people who have equally devoted their lives for decades and have gone nowhere in that organization. Why do you single out women? What is so special about them over other people?"
For beginners is 50% of the population
and 66% of the membership of JW's
and they are 100% excluded from any position of teaching according to Bible interpretation
and they are a lot more observant of Christian values than men (yeah, those aggressive, conceited, cruel, competitive, horny bastards).
Is that enough???
